What are popular kitchen cabinet colors?

Home Improvement

Even if we are not likely a complete kitchen renovation, we are still constantly curious about the perfect way to refinish a cupboard and the best kitchen cabinet colors. And if we are talking kitchen remodels, our fascination with the kitchen cupboard trends increases. When Houzz published its 2019 Kitchen Trends Report, we turned on cupboard trends. As it happens, the 2019 tendencies are choices which have been popular for a while. So whether you are making over your whole kitchen or only need to update one component, these would be the cupboard trends to follow if you would like to have an in-style appearance that will not look outdated in five decades.

Most Popular Kitchen Cabinet Colors for 2019

According to Houzz’s poll of over 1,300 U.S. homeowners that are either in the process of, are likely to, or recently finished a kitchen job, 78 percent modernized their cupboards as part of the remodel. And no surprises here–many homeowners are still picking white cupboards (43 percent), which have held onto the top spot for the previous three decades. In second place is wood cabinets (25 percent), followed by grey cabinets (11 percent). While the prevalence of white cupboards has remained relatively steady since 2017, wood cabinets have dropped 3 percent, and grey cabinets have risen 3%. Selecting cabinet colors may be hard, but picking out hardware should not be: Matte nickle remains the top pick for all three cabinet colours.

Most Popular Kitchen Cabinet Style for 2019

One of the homeowners who chose to update their kitchen cabinets, the majority opted for custom or semicustom cabinets (40 and 34 percent, respectively). When it comes to cabinet style, Shaker cabinets (such as recessed-panel doorways ) won in a landslide, pulling in 57 percent of the vote. Trailed by flat-panel doors (19 percent) and raised-panel doors (16 percent), Shaker design is the clear favorite for 2019.

Known for a simple, clean look, Shaker cabinets are also common in farmhouse-style kitchens, yet another trend the Houzz report called out. Farmhouse style (14 percent) has gained in popularity over the last 3 decades, and while it trails behind transitional (21 percent), it almost ties with modern (15 percent) as the second-most popular fashion. If you had worried about the longevity of this Fixer Upper-inspired trend, do not worry, it does not look like farmhouse style is moving anywhere. For trendy kitchen cabinets which endure the test of time, you can not go wrong with simple white Shaker-style cabinets.
